Course Description
Course information provided by the 2024-2025 Catalog.
Independent Biological Research: Independent study with a mentor from the Shoals Marine Laboratory core faculty, based on student faculty interest and available facilities. A short proposal of research will be developed based on BIOSM 1500 or another BIOSM course taken the same summer.
Prerequisites/Corequisites Prerequisite: BIOSM 1500 or, with permission from Shoals staff, another BIOSM course that covers subject matter conducive to a mentored follow-up project.

Outcomes
- Students will be able to execute experimental design, data collection and analysis, and interpretation of results during an independent, mentored research project.
- Use and maintain scientific instruments in the lab and field.
