CHEM 2080

Course information provided by the Courses of Study 2023-2024.

Covers fundamental chemical principles, including reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, and equilibrium. These principles are presented quantitatively and explored in the laboratory. Considerable attention is given to the quantitative calculations and techniques important for further work in chemistry.

When Offered Fall, Spring, Summer.

Fees Lab fee: $20 (non-refundable) covers cost of safety goggles, lab apron, and breakage. Only students without a prior chemistry lab course (CHEM 2070 or CHEM 2090) will be charged.
Prerequisites/Corequisites Prerequisite: CHEM 2070 or CHEM 2090. CHEM 1560 is accepted, but not recommended.
Forbidden Overlaps Forbidden Overlap: due to an overlap in content, students will not receive credit for both CHEM 2080 and CHEM 2150.

Distribution Category (PBS-AS, PHS-AS)

Comments Students who have advanced placement credit for CHEM 2070 or CHEM 2090 may also receive credit for Chem 2080 by demonstrating competence on the departmental examination given at Cornell before classes start in the fall or spring.
