CHEM 2070

Covers fundamental chemical principles, with considerable attention given to the quantitative aspects and techniques important for further work in chemistry. Main topics include chemical transformations and equations, periodic trends of the elements, electronic structure of atoms, chemical bonding, and the collective behavior of molecules.

When Offered Fall, Spring, Summer.

Fees Lab fee: $20 (non-refundable) covers cost of safety goggles, lab apron, and breakage.
Forbidden Overlaps Forbidden Overlap: due to an overlap in content, students will receive credit for only one course in the following group: CHEM 1560, CHEM 2070, CHEM 2090.

Comments CHEM 2070 is a prerequisite for CHEM 2080. Engineering students should take CHEM 2090 and cannot take CHEM 2070 without written permission from the Chemistry Office of Undergraduate Studies and the College of Engineering. Well-prepared students may receive credit for CHEM 2070 by demonstrating competence in the advanced placement examination of the College Entrance Examination Board or in the departmental examination given at Cornell before classes start in the fall.
