Course information provided by the 2025-2026 Catalog.

Nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and social ventures face unique challenges in developing digital products that serve under-resourced communities. These organizations must navigate complex stakeholder needs, limited resources, and mission-driven constraints. This course teaches students how to identify opportunities, prototype solutions, and validate digital products that advance public-interest missions. Students will work in teams matched with a real-world partner organization and advisor, applying skills in AI, data science, and human-centered design to challenges spanning public health, food security, family support, gender-based violence, education and career readiness, and housing stability. Teams will build and pitch a product in three sprints, culminating in a final presentation and demo.
