Pool Paddling

Learn the fundamentals of kayaking in the controlled environment of the pool. This course will give you a solid progression of skills that will be easily transferable to an open water or river experience. Learn and practice a wide range of skills in whitewater kayaks including fundamental paddling strokes, bracing, rolling and boat handling skills like edging and carving. Paddling games and focused exercises will provide a fun and interactive group learning experience.


Fees Course fee, $325. For instruction and all paddling equipment.

    Course fee: $295. Classes will take place at Helen Newman Swimming pool. Prerequisite: recreational swimmer. Please note that this class may conflict with your prelim schedule. Be sure to check your prelim schedule against this classes schedule for conflicts.
    Drop Deadline: Tuesday, January 20, 2026. Students will be responsible for the course fee and assessed a $50 administrative fee if they do not drop by the deadline.
