This course gives students direct hands-on experience with fisheries management through field trips, including visits to a fish hatchery, a fish ladder, a Great Lakes fisheries laboratory, and a Cornell fisheries research station. The students will learn about approaches to fisheries management through discussions with fisheries professionals. Activities include the use of various fish sampling gears and sample analysis techniques. Each student is required to maintain a written journal describing activities and concepts learned from each field trip that is submitted at the end of the semester.
