Course Description
Course information provided by the 2024-2025 Catalog. Courses of Study 2024-2025 is scheduled to publish mid-June.
Learn basic rock climbing skills on real rock! We'll spend a glorious weekend climbing, tent camping, and relaxing at Minnewaska State Park in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains. We will cover climbing equipment and technique, knots, belaying, rappelling, and natural history.
Prerequisites/Corequisites No prior experience necessary.
Fees Course fee: $395 for instruction/travel and food. Includes all climbing equipment and group camping gear (tents, stoves, etc.). If you don't have your own, personal camping gear (sleeping bag, headlamp, etc.) is available for rent at a 25% discount.
Last 4 Terms Offered (None)
When Offered Fall, Spring.
Satisfies Requirement Satisfies one PE requirement if taken as PE. First class is required, students must attend all classes to receive PE credit.

Instruction Mode: In Person
Course fee: $395; The first and second class will meet on campus in Bartels Hall, at the Lindseth Climbing Center. The weekend trip (4/19-4/21) will first meet at Bartels Hall and then head out to Minnewaska State Park in the heart of the Catskill Mountains. Transportation is provided for classes off campus.
Drop Deadline: Tuesday, January 21, 2025. Students will be responsible for the course fee and assessed a $50 late drop fee if they do not drop by the deadline.
