Studies in Design Thinking

Course Description

Course information provided by the 2024-2025 Catalog. Courses of Study 2024-2025 is scheduled to publish mid-June.

This graduate course explores design-thinking strategies at the intersections of creativity, science, and engineering. Students will learn about the creative strategies that today's designers use to address complex problems, and they will apply intuition, imagination, and reasoning to produce innovative design solutions. Different theoretical themes and design thinking techniques will be introduced and explored each week through critical readings, discussions, and creative synthesis.

• Apply human-centered and user-driven approaches as core values in the design process.
• Use abductive reasoning as an alternative approach to deductive and inductive reasoning.
