Course Description
Course information provided by the Courses of Study 2023-2024.
This one credit S/U course will provide an overview of current topics in food animal welfare. Emphasis will be placed on veterinary issues and public perceptions of welfare of swine, poultry, fish, small ruminants, and beef and dairy cattle. Transport, slaughter, and euthanasia of all species will also be addressed. A welfare audit exercise will be conducted at the Veterinary College Teaching Dairy. Each student will be asked to do in-depth reading on a topic of importance to industry and veterinarians and to prepare a 3 to 5 page paper.

Permission Note Enrollment limited to: first-, second- and third-year veterinary students.
