PLPPM 6490
Course Description
Course information provided by the Courses of Study 2023-2024.
In-depth analysis and discussion of current scientific literature focused on the genetics, genomics, cell and molecular biology, and evolution of fungi. Primarily directed at biology graduate students, but undergraduates with the necessary background, postdocs, and staff with a focus on the molecular and organismal biology of fungi are welcome.
When Offered Spring.
Prerequisites/Corequisites Prerequisite: BIOMG 2800 or PLBRG 2250 required for undergraduates; equivalent background in molecular biology and genetics coursework required for graduate students.
Outcomes
- Synthesize and present scientific arguments and evaluate them in the context of published literature.
- Integrate quantitative and qualitative data to reach defensible conclusions and compare them to conclusions presented in the scientific literature.
- Evaluate and effectively interpret factual claims, theories, and assumptions in the current fungal biology scientific literature.
- Communicate data, claims, and theories effectively with peers.
