PE 1664
Course Description
Course information provided by the Courses of Study 2023-2024.
Mountain Biking is for those who want to learn the skills to ride a bike on single track trails. Skills on the bike include body position, braking, shifting, descending, climbing and navigating natural terrain such as rocks, roots and logs. You will also learn to complete a bike safety check, change a flat tire and navigate on the trails. Don't have a bike? Don't fret! COE can lend you a bike during class days for an additional $60 fee.
When Offered Fall, Spring.
Fees Course fee: $295 for instruction. $60 bike rental (if needed).
Satisfies Requirement Satisfies one PE requirement if taken as PE.
Comments Prerequisites: Ability to comfortably ride a bike. Mountain Biking is geared towards beginning mountain bikers, but it takes place on narrow, uneven trails and basic bike handling skills are a must. To learn more about this course, please visit the Cornell Outdoor Education website.

Course Fee: $295; Fee does not include bike rental ($60). Helmets are available for no charge.. The first class will meet at Bartels Hall and then travel to other areas around Ithaca, NY. Transportation is provided for classes off campus.
Drop Deadline: Monday, January 22, 2024. Students will be responsible for the course fee and assessed a $50 late drop fee if they do not drop by the deadline.
