LAW 7233

Course information provided by the Courses of Study 2023-2024.

This new at-home seminar is for students who are interested in working professionally in a multi-lingual environment. We will discuss language demographics, language difference in law and institutions (including language justice and human and civil rights law of language access to justice), language and accent discrimination, building a language-accessible legal practice, and, if there is interest, spend time on students' own language genealogies and/or aspirations to use your foreign language skills professionally. Readings will include articles, book excerpts and other media. Sessions will take place at Professor Lyon's home on South Hill. Students who wish to do so will help select meals reflecting their heritage or chosen food cultures.

When Offered Spring.
