Behavioral operations management is an emerging field that utilizes laboratory experiments, field experiments, behavioral modeling, and/or empirical analyses to investigate how managers and consumers make decisions in various operational settings. The objectives of this course are to (1) provide an overview of the seminal research and methods in related fields, (2) review how these methods are applied to operational settings by discussing behavioral papers on service operations, inventory management, supply chain contracting, B2B bargaining, and strategic sourcing, and (3) discuss how to conduct effective research in operations management using behavioral methods (students will be required to identify/design research projects).

Permission Note This is a PhD-level seminar course that is required for first and second year PhD students in the OTIM area of Johnson. Interested PhD students from outside of the area/school should be actively conducting research in operations management and contact the instructor for further information.

    Non-Johnson Students ONLY: Add/Drop: January 17th at 9:00am thru January 30th at 11:59pm with an additional Add/Drop period beginning March 15th at 9:00am to March 22nd at 11:59pm. You may add or drop a second-half class after March 22nd at 11:59pm with permission of the faculty. A late fee of $100.00 will be charged for each add or drop transaction. If you are dropping after April 12th you will also receive a "W" on your transcript in addition to the late fees. Non-Johnson students must see their college registrar regarding policies connected with adding/dropping a second half Johnson School class. A petition may be required.
