Course Description
Course information provided by the Courses of Study 2022-2023.
This graduate course explores design-thinking strategies at the intersections of creativity, science, and engineering. Students will learn about the creative strategies that today's designers use to address complex problems, and they will apply intuition, imagination, and reasoning to produce innovative design solutions. Different theoretical themes and design thinking techniques will be introduced and explored each week through critical readings, discussions, and creative synthesis.

- Understand and apply design thinking principles as a means of solving problems.
- Apply human-centered and user-driven approaches as core values in the design process.
- Use abductive reasoning as an alternative approach to deductive and inductive reasoning.
- Make experimental ideas tangible through sketches, mockups, and prototypes.
