In this course the students will find, read, summarize, critically evaluate and discuss papers from the primary literature related to effects of climate change using birds as examples. At the end of the course each student will present to the class a critical summary on a relevant topic of their choice, and submit an essay in which they articulate their ideas.

  • Students will be able to understand and explain causes and effects of climate change.
  • Students will be able to find relevant literature, and critically read, interpret and discuss that literature.
  • Students will be able to ask critical questions about scientific papers, and discuss and summarize their main findings.
  • Students will be able to explain and defend their interpretations and conclusions of scientific papers.
  • Students will be able to prepare and present a scientific presentation.
