Course Description
Course information provided by the Courses of Study 2022-2023.
As renewed calls against racial violence in this country are articulated through the language of abolitionism, this course investigates how activism and projects to promote greater social justice are reorienting around an abolitionist worldview. Looking both backwards and forward, this course examines how the abolition of the Trans-Atlantic slave trade informs contemporary practices of advocating for racial justice. Over the course of the semester, we will turn to the work of social justice activists in order to interpret strategic planning documents by organizations working to promote transformative and reparative justice.
