Course Description
Course information provided by the Courses of Study 2016-2017.
This class continues from the basics covered in Introduction to Social Ballroom Dance, PE 1150. Students should have either taken PE 1150 or have some prior partner dance experience. Each semester the class will cover three popular social dances that are most likely to be seen on a social dance floor. In the Fall semester, the class will cover Cha Cha, Salsa and West Coast Swing. In the Spring semester, the class will cover Waltz, Foxtrot and East Coast Swing. The class will focus on gaining some mastery of each of the dances taught, developing partnering skills, technique, movement, styling and musicality. It is not necessary to sign up with a partner, however it is recommended to ensure balance between leads and follows. Participants will change partners throughout the class. It is also expected that students will have appropriate footwear (smooth-bottomed shoes). Please email instructor with any questions.
