Course Description
Course information provided by the Courses of Study 2016-2017.
Builds on the foundation of MAE 3230. Emphasis is placed on both the fundamental principles and numerical calculation of real flows using a computational fluid dynamics package. Topics covered include inviscid and viscous flows at different regimes of Reynolds number. The examples will be related to engineering and environmental applications.
When Offered Spring.
Permission Note Enrollment limited to: graduate standing or permission of instructor. Intended for M.Eng. students who wish to take a fluid dynamics course including implementation of commercial computational fluid dynamics packages.
Comments Graduate version of MAE 4230. Course includes a 1-credit CFD design project due at the end of the semester. Complements material in MAE 6010 and MAE 6020.
Outcomes- Course enables students to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering.
- Course enables students to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability.
- Course enables students to identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems.
- Course provides students with the broad education necessary to understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental, and social context.
- Course enables students to use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice.
Regular Academic Session. Choose one lecture and one laboratory. Combined with: MAE 4230, MAE 4231
