Course Description
Course information provided by the Courses of Study 2016-2017.
Work and family are two of the main institutions around which adults organize their lives. In this course, we will analyze those institutions and their relationship to one another, unpacking the ways in which work and family do, or do not, support one another. Specifically, we will explore the conflict between work and family, and its intersectionality with individual differences and social constructions, such as gender. We will discuss challenges facing individuals, families, organizations, and society from both a theoretical and practical perspective. Students will learn and discuss ways of addressing these challenges, with an emphasis on organizational policies and practices.
When Offered Spring (seven-week session).
