Course Description
Course information provided by the Courses of Study 2016-2017.
This course provides real world, hands-on learning on what it's like to actually start a company. Although students will write a business plan, the class is not about how to write a plan as much as it is about how to go from idea to functioning company. This is a practical class – essentially a lab, not a theory or "book" class. My goal, within the constraints of a classroom and a limited amount of time, is to create an entrepreneurial experience for students with all of the pressures and demands of the real world in an early-stage startup. Students will be getting their "hands dirty", talking to customers, partners, competitors, as you encounter the chaos and uncertainty of how a startup actually works. Heavy emphasis on market validation and business model generation throughout the course. This is entirely a team based course and students are encouraged (but not required to) register as a team and teams will be given priority for enrollment.
When Offered Fall, spring.
