Course Description
Course information provided by the Courses of Study 2014-2015.
An introduction to the theory of music from around the world: the structures of melody and rhythm (pulse, meter, scales, modes, texture, timbre, harmony, form) and the influences of audiences, music technologies (including instruments), reasons, and contexts for music making on instrumental and vocal music from classical, folk, traditional, and popular music of Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas. Extensive listening examples.
When Offered Spring.
