Course Description
Course information provided by the Courses of Study 2014-2015.
Introduction to linear finite element static and dynamic analysis for discrete and distributed mechanical and aerospace structures. Prediction of load, deflection, stress, strain, and temperature distributions. Major emphasis on underlying mechanics and numerical methods. Introduction to computational aspects via educational and commercial software (such as MATLAB and ANSYS). Selected mechanical and aerospace applications in the areas of trusses, beams, frames, heat transfer (steady state and transient), and elasticity (static and dynamic). Senior Design report required.
When Offered Spring.
Permission Note Enrollment limited to: senior standing or permission of instructor.
Prerequisites/Corequisites Prerequisite or corequisite: MAE 4300, or permission of instructor.
Satisfies Requirement Fulfills Senior Design requirement.
Comments Co-meets with MAE 4700/MAE 5700.
Regular Academic Session. Choose one lecture and one laboratory. Combined with: MAE 4700, MAE 5700
