PE 1680
Course Description
Course information provided by the Courses of Study 2024-2025. Courses of Study 2024-2025 is scheduled to publish mid-June.
Learn the fundamentals of kayaking in the controlled environment of the pool. This course will give you a solid progression of skills that will be easily transferable to an open water or river experience. Learn and practice a wide range of skills in whitewater kayaks including fundamental paddling strokes, bracing, rolling and boat handling skills like edging and carving. Paddling games and focused exercises will provide a fun and interactive group learning experience.
When Offered Fall, Spring.
Fees Course fee: $295 for instruction. All paddling equipment is included in the course fee. Free to students who are in need of a PE credit to graduate. Students will first be billed the course fee, after passing and completing the course they will then be reimbursed the course fee. Students must pass the class in order to receive the reimbursement.
Prerequisites/Corequisites Prerequisite: recreational swimmer.
Satisfies Requirement Satisfies requirement: Satisfies one PE requirement if taken as PE. First class is required, students can miss one class and still receive PE credit. NOTE: this class time may conflict with prelims. Please check your exam schedule before enrolling.

Course fee: $295. Prerequisite: recreational swimmer. Fee waived if students still need PE credit to graduate (students will first be billed the course fee, after passing and completing the course they will then be reimbursed the course fee. Students must fulfill the class requirements in order to receive the reimbursement.) Classes will take place at Helen Newman Swimming pool. All paddling equipment is provided!
Drop Deadline: Wednesday, September 4, 2024. Students will be responsible for the course fee and assessed a $50 late drop fee if they do not drop by the deadline.
