Enjoy world-class rock climbing at one of the premier areas in the US, the Shawangunks! After two introductory classes at the Lindseth Climbing Center, we will travel to the 'Gunks for 4 days of rock climbing that will teach you the skills to follow multi-pitch climbs. During fall foliage the natural beauty of the 'Gunks is superb and the climbing is some of the best in the world. A student-to-instructor ratio of 2:1 ensures individual attention and plenty of climbing for all.

When Offered Fall.

Fees Course fee: $495 for instruction/travel and food. Includes all climbing equipment and group camping gear (tents, stoves, etc.) If you don't have your own, personal camping gear (sleeping bag, headlamp, etc.) is available for rent at a 25% discount.
Prerequisites/Corequisites Prerequisite: basic Rock Climbing or equivalent experience. Top rope belay certification minimum, Lead belay certification recommended. Instructor approval required before registering (anm67@cornell.edu).

Satisfies Requirement Satisfies one PE requirement if taken as PE. First class is required, students must attend all classes to receive PE credit.

  • Course fee: $495. Instructor approval required before registering (anm67). The first and second class will meet on campus at the Lindseth Climbing Center, located in Bartels Hall. Transportation is provided for classes off campus. Prerequisites: Basic Rock Climbing or equivalent experience, Top rope belay certification minimum, Lead belay recommended.
    Drop Deadline: Wednesday, September 4, 2024. Students will be responsible for the course fee and assessed a $50 late drop fee if they do not drop by the deadline.
