Course Description
Course information provided by the Courses of Study 2022-2023. Courses of Study 2022-2023 is scheduled to publish mid-June.
Additive Manufacturing (AM) is a rapid manufacturing technology capable of producing highly complex parts directly from a computer file. In this course, we provide a detailed overview of different AM processes. The fundamentals of each technology in terms of the process principals (e.g. whether it involves photopolymer curing, sintering, melting, high velocity impact, etc.), different design considerations, common defects and post processing steps will be covered. The second part of the course will focus on melt-based AM. Fundamentals of solidification and microstructure-property relationships in major classes of metallic materials including aluminum alloys, steels, titanium and nickel-based super alloys will be discussed.
When Offered Fall.
Prerequisites/Corequisites Prerequisite: ENGRD 2020.
