Asymptotics and Perturbation Methods

Topics include solution of linear ODEs with an irregular singular point, method of dominant balance, WKB method; matched asymptotics, asymptotic expansion of integrals, method of steepest descent; perturbation methods for nonlinear ODEs including Lindstedt's method, multiples scales, averaging.
